3.7 THE LIFE OF GOD is THE ATTRIBUTE of GOD by which God Exerts and Displays All His Perfections, including Almighty Power.

the Attributes of Simplicity,

Immutability, Infinity,

Omnipresence,

and

Eternity,

which Belong to God,

as an Uncreated,

Infinite, and Eternal Spirit;

and

which Distinguish Him

from all other spirits;

We will now proceed to consider

The ATTRIBUTES that Belong to

THE TRIUNE GODHEAD

as an Active and Operative Spirit.

Active and Operative, more or less;

but

GOD IS SPIRIT

AND

GOD IS SPIRIT INFINITELY.

GOD is ALWAYS ACTIVE

Activity Supposes Life

and

Operations like Power,

such as God Performs,

Almighty Power,

or

Omnipotence.

Active and Operative Attributes

next to be considered.

First GOD ALMIGHTY’S

“Life”.

Some think this is not

a Single Perfection of God,

but Expressive of

All the Divine Perfections:

and, indeed,

“LIFE”

is GOD’S Nature

and

Essence.

“LIFE” is Himself;

and

so is every other Attribute His Nature,

under different considerations,

and as Variously Displayed.

Wherefore

“GOD’S LIFE”

may be treated of as a Distinct Attribute;

and

a Very Eminent

and

Fundamental Attribute

“LIFE” is.
