TURNING FROM SIN

REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD
Repentance is another part of Internal Worship
and is the
PRACTICAL SPIRITUAL WORSHIP
of a CHILD of GOD when
TURNING FROM SIN
in REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD.

TURNING FROM SIN
in REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD
is a branch of Godliness
which EXISTS in SAVED SOULS
in the Disposition of their Soul
TOWARD God.

In the exercise of
TURNING FROM SIN in REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD
the SPIRITUALLY sensible sinner
has a special respect TOWARD God.

He has a special respect to GOD against Whom he has sinned,
and therefore
TURNING FROM SIN is with great propriety called
“Repentance towards God”
Acts 20:21;
“Testifying
both to the Jews,
and also to the Greeks,
Repentance toward God,
and
Faith toward
our Lord Jesus Christ.”

TURNING FROM SIN
in REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD
may be observed,
4.4.1. REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD has names used,
and the words and phrases
by which REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD is expressed,
both
in the Old and in the New Testament,
and by Jews, Greeks, and Latins,
which may give some light into
REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD itself.

4.4.1a. First, the Jews commonly express TURNING FROM SIN
in REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD
by tsvvh a “turning”, or “returning”,
and it is frequently signified in the Old Testament by a
man’s turning from his evil ways, and returning to the Lord.

The WORD from which A PERSON
in their evil ways turns is “sin”,
the WORD to which A PERSON
in their evil ways
turns is “GOD”,
against Whom they have sinned;
and
GOD Most Powerfully
SPIRITUALLY
Moves, Encourages,
and Induces the sinner to turn.

Moves, Encourages,
and Induces the sinner to
TURN FROM SIN
TOWARD GOD,
this the Pardoning Grace
and Mercy of God
through Christ
SEEN in THE OLD TESTAMENT
of GOD’S WORD
at Isaiah 55:7;
“Let the wicked forsake his way,
and
the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and
let him return to the LORD,
and
He Will
have Mercy on him;
and to our God,
for He
Will Abundantly Pardon.”
and so in the New Testament,
Repentance and Turning
are mentioned together,
and the latter, here in Acts 26:20
explains the former in Acts 3:19;

and throughout
all the coasts of Judea,
and then to the Gentiles,
that they should
Repent
and
Turn to God,
and do works
indicating Repentance.”

may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing
will come
from the Presence
of the Lord.”

There is another word in Hebrew
used for Repentance, nchm
(Hosea 11:8; 13:14),
which also signifies Comfort;
because such who sincerely
Repent
or TURN FROM SIN
to GOD
and are truly Humbled by their sins,
should be Comforted,
so they are not,
as the Apostle says,
“swallowed up
with overmuch sorrow.”
(2 Cor. 2:7)

TURNING FROM SIN
in REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD
is God’s usual way to bring His people
“into the wilderness”,
or, into a distressed state, for GOD to Lead His people
into a sense of THEIR OWN SIN AGAINST HIM,
and to an humiliation for sinning against God Almighty,
and then for GOD to Speak Comfortably to them
(Hosea 2:14).

The Spirit of God is First Reproves
and Convinces
INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE of THEIR sins,
and then The Spirit of God is a Comforter.

The Spirit of God first
Shows INDIVIDUAL SOULS the evil nature of THEIR sin,
and the just results of THEIR sins,
and THEN
THE HOLY SPIRIT of GOD
Gives them
The Grace of TURNING
FROM THEIR SIN
in
REPENTANCE
TOWARDS GOD
because they have sinned,
and then
THE HOLY SPIRIT of GOD
Comforts HIS CHILDREN
with
the Application of Pardon
through the Blood of Jesus
AS SHOWN & REVEALED to MANKIND
by THE TRIUNE GODHEAD
